"Our family is like the branches of a tree. We may grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one. Each of us will always be a part of the other."
He that raises a large family does, indeed, while he lives to observe them, stand a broader mark for sorrow; but then he stands a broader mark for pleasure too. ~Benjamin Franklin
Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. ~Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. ~Rajneesh
My husband & I met on a blind date 13 years ago & married 3 mos. later. We have 4 great kids: Kaylee, Dylan, Garrett & McKenna. After 20 yrs., Steve retired from the Navy in July. Before meeting Steve, I was a Medical Assistant & EMT. I’ve served as Command Ombudsman & President of a Command Spouse Support Group. I also volunteered as a counselor at a Crisis Pregnancy Center. 6 yrs. ago, I began working with families of children with disabilities, after 3 of our own children were diagnosed with disabilities. I was hired as a Family Resource Specialist & got trained in Special Education law. I worked as a Special Education Advocate, which turned out to be my passion. I continued to work full time until Dylan needed to be schooled at home. I was sad to leave a job I loved but my kids are always #1. Fortunately, I was able to do the work I loved from home part-time & serve on the Family Faculty of the agency I worked for. Now that Dylan’s back at school full time again, as are all the rest of the kids, I’ve recently gone back to work full time for Mental Health Systems, Inc.'s Fresno County Wraparound Program as a Parent Partner, something I feel very blessed to be doing.
