Monday Morning Madness

Well, today is Monday...and as cliche as it may be, I really do hate Mondays! I'd like a 3 day weekend every weekend, wouldn't you? I just returned from the gym where I worked out with my trainer, Monica, who I love. I hadn't been in over a week and what a difference I could tell after not being there consistantly as I've been for the past 6 weeks before that. I do feel better after going, though. I'm more awake now, which is definitely a good thing, as I was really dragging this morning! Dylan, Garrett & McKenna all were, too, though! I had to physically remove each of them from their beds this morning, and begrudgingly so! Let's hope they're all fully awake by now in class!

So, here's some of the news from our house recently:

~After a week of grueling training and tryouts all of last week, Kaylee was excited to find out that she made the Cheerleading Squad at Redwood for this upcoming year! YEAH KAYLEE!!! (I'm going to try & post the video of when she found out she made the list to this post, so we'll see if it works!) She worked really hard learning the cheers, jumps, & a complicated dance all in 3 days. She & her BFF Sasha were here at the house, in the family room, in the evenings after training continuing to practice. So glad her hard work paid off, now on to figuring out how to pay for the cheerleading! Holy cow is it expensive!!! Do you need your cars washed, dogs walked & bathed or your children cared for? Call Kaylee & Sasha because they'd love to help you & help pay for their cheer uniforms at the same time!!! I'm still adjusting to the fact that she's going to be starting high school in a few months! That is so unreal! She has a boyfriend now, too - Joey, from church, who plays the guitar. The whole teenage thing is really taking some getting used to, that's for sure!

~Dylan joined the track team at school & has his first real track meet this coming Friday. They had a practice meet 2 weeks ago, I guess to get the kids used to how they function. He did a great job being patient, as there was a LOT of waiting involved before his event rolled around. He's doing the 100 meter dash & Shotput. We're glad he's getting the team experience & the activity that comes along with it!

~Garrett is rockin' & rollin' with school. Big Red, as he's called at our house, is quite the little scholar & is in the Gate program at school this year. He seems to be having a lot of fun in his class this year & really enjoys his teacher, Mr. Ferreira, as this is his first year with a male teacher. Seems to be a good fit with him!.

~McKenna continues to have a blast in Kindergarten! She got an award last week for her "Scholarly Writing". Steve & I got a great laugh a few weeks ago when the kids brought home their report cards. McKenna's listed how she was doing in subjects that included, "Reading Comprehensiona/Literary Analysis, Writing Strategies, Physical/Earth/Life Science, Technology, Mathematical Reasoning, Algebra & Functions, Measurement & Geometry, Statistics, Data Analysis & Probability, History/Social Science, and Visual/Performing Arts". That's right, these are the subjects exactly as taken from her Kindergarten Report Card. I'm pretty sure the subjects when I was in Kindergarten consisted of Fingerpainting, Macaroni Art, Cutting & Pasting, Coloring in the lines, & whether I knew my abc's, 123's, and colors! It's crazy how different it is now! Even from when the other kids were there. I guess we should just appreciate the fact that she's doing really well and let it go.

~As for Steve & I, we're daily trying to keep up with the kids, which seems to be a never-ending job. Thank God I had them so young, as I can't imagine trying to keep up beign 10 years older than I am now! We are trying to get a resume put together for Steve as he is on a job hunt for his next career! After 20 years in the Navy, this seems to be a daunting task for him. With the economy the way it is right now, I think it's just making it that much more difficult. We'll figure it out, though. I'm still plugging away with my classes through University of Phoenix. I'm working on my degree in Psychology and am enjoying it. It would be easier if there were just a few more hours in the day, though!!!!

Speaking of class, I should get to that now! Hope your Monday is a fabulous one! Remember, post your comments & tell me what's going on on your end! Talk to you soon!
