The weekend already?

Wow! I can't believe it's the weekend already! This week has been so busy! The kids are thrilled to officially be on Spring Break today! Steve's on duty at the base today & tomorrow - his last duty weekend of his 20 year Navy career! This leaves me at home with Dylan, Garrett & McKenna, since Kaylee is gone for the week, and our plans involve doing a whole lot of nothing today! The 3 kiddos are having a blast in the family room right now, rockin' on Guitar Hero, while mom gets a little computer time!

Yesterday, we said goodbye to Kaylee & Nana (my mom) as they departed Green Acres on a bus headed to LAX, ultimately with the destination of New York City! The bus was over an hour late - supposed to be at the school at 3:00 p.m. and leaving no later than 3:30 p.m. - but did not even arrive in the parking lot until 4:30. They got loaded up quickly, though, and headed off, arriving at the airport around 8:30 p.m. Their flight left LAX at 11:12 p.m. and they arrived at the Newark Airport at 6:41 a.m. today. They got off the plane, were going to pick up breakfast, and were headed out for a full day of sightseeing, not to see their hotel until about 10:00 tonight! Their itinerary for the day included visiting Rockefeller Center, touring the NBC studios, St. Patrick's Cathedral, shopping on 5th Avenue, and dinner at a restaurant called Mars 2112.

After bidding farewell to Kaylee & Nana, the rest of our family, including my dad, headed out to eat a quick dinner & head out to Golden West H.S. for Dylan's track meet. Dylan ran the first leg of the 4 x 100 relay and did a terrific job! I'm going to try & post a video of his leg of the run at the end of this post. After the challenges Dylan's encountered over these past few years, and having just recently made the transition to Oak Grove and back into a general ed. classroom, I couldn't be more proud of my sweet boy for the incredible strides he's making with school and making friends. Just seeing him on the track team and out there participating in an event like this is so exciting! We had a great time watching him & Garrett and McKenna love getting to be out in the stands hanging out playing with friends & snacking during the meet. It was pretty cool out, windy actually, but it didn't seem to phase them at all - just us old folks, I guess!

This week also entailed Kaylee's first Cheerleading Squad meeting, where the girls picked their uniforms and the parents went over fundraising, which I was excited about as the cost for cheer is between $1,500 - $2,000. Ouch! That all has to paid before the school year starts in August! So, I was glad to hear about the biggest fundraiser they do, which is selling scoreboard advertising to local businesses. Depending on which option a business chooses, the cost ranges between $50 - $250 and 100% of the proceeds go directly to that girl's account. So, Kaylee & I jumped right on that "bandwagon" and were out on the fundraising trail the next day! So, for any of you that have a business, work for a business, or even you independent consultants that do home business, if you might be interested in helping out Kaylee and advertising your business at the Mineral King Bowl for the Redwood High School football games, shoot me an email ( carissamorgan@yahoo.com ) and I can send you the details! Every little bit helps!

Something else I'm excited about is a new business that I started this week called Scentsy! I already have my website up and running so you can go check it out at www.scentsy.com/CarissaMorgan . I'm having my Launch Party on April 18 at 10:00 a.m. so if you are here in my area, you have to come! Email me for details, and for those of you who live outside of my area, go to my website and you can participate that way!

I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend and get a chance to relax yourselves! Remember to post comments & share what's going on with you down below!

Blessings!
